BHSU’s academic advising model includes both professional and faculty advisors.
Professional Advisors in Spearfish support first and second-year students as they transition to college,
helping them connect with resources on campus, solidify their goals, develop a graduation
plan and develop meaningful relationships.
Faculty Advisors support main campus students in their third year and beyond. The faculty advisor
serves as a mentor and further prepares students for their careers, helping them engage
in research opportunities, pursue study abroad programs, secure internships, apply
to graduate school, and more.
Rapid City students work with a Professional Advisor throughout their college experience, from
day one all the way until graduation! Students are assigned a faculty advisor as their
secondary advisor.
TRIO program students work with their
TRIO professional advisor throughout their entire program. TRIO students are assigned a faculty advisor as
their secondary advisor.
