Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, SSS is part of the nationwide TRIO family of programs designed to help students thrive in college and achieve their bachelor’s degree. If you’re serious about your education and want a team in your corner to help you overcome challenges, reach your goals, and make the most of your college experience—this program is for you!

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for SSS, students must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria established by the U.S. Department of Education:

  1. First-Generation: Neither parent (biological or adoptive) has completed a four-year bachelor’s degree.
  2. Low-Income: The student’s taxable income must meet federal low-income guidelines. (Students must provide a copy of their own or their parents’ most recent federal tax return, depending on dependency status.)
  3. Disability: The student must provide documentation of a physical, psychological, or learning disability that may affect participation in educational opportunities.

In addition, students must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or meet federal student aid residency requirements.

Students selected for SSS show strong academic potential and a desire to succeed—whether demonstrated through ACT scores, high school grades, GED, teacher recommendations, or previous college work.
