Black Hills State University and Yellow Jacket Dining are committed to solving the growing problem of food insecurity on our campuses. To reduce this food insecurity, we have launched the Swipe Out Hunger Program. The program is designed to offer BHSU students a stigma-free solution to hunger, allowing students in need to receive a block of meals from a donated meal bank. This block of meals may be used at The Hive in the Student Union.
The Swipe Out Hunger Program is open all year to currently enrolled BHSU students.
Students experiencing food insecurity can request meals by submitting an application which will be reviewed by a professional staff member each Monday. Upon approval, meal blocks are added to the student's account, and the student is notified via email.
Students who receive Swipe Out Hunger meal swipes can use them until the end of the semester at both The Hive in the Student Union.
