The Black Hills State University Music Department has announced its fall concert schedule. All events are free and open to the public except the BHSU Chamber Singers Madrigal Dinner fundraiser in December, which requires a ticket. Performances will be held in Meier Hall unless otherwise noted.
October performances begin with a band concert Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The BHSU High School Marching Exhibition Day will be held Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. at Lyle Hare Stadium, where area high school marching bands will perform. Landyn Branstiter’s Junior Recital will take place Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., followed by a Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo Concert Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
November features an array of events, beginning with the Friends of Music Fall Fundraiser Event from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Western Heritage Museum on Nov. 1. The Jason Laczkoski Saxophone Masterclass and Recital will follow Nov. 3 at 3:30 and 7 p.m. The BHSU Faculty Recital will be Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. A series of senior recitals are set to follow, starting with Ethan Garrido’s Senior Recital on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Eliza Dosch will perform her Senior Recital the following day, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. Abigail Scott’s Senior Recital will be held Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
On Nov. 13, the Northern Hills Chamber Chorale Concert will begin their performance at 7 p.m. The Dakota Chamber Orchestra Concert will take place Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and the Bella Bjordahl Senior Recital will be Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. On Nov. 20, the Jazz Ensemble Concert will start at 7 p.m. November will round off with the Choral Concert on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., the Band Concert on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m., and the Northern Hills Honor Bands Festival Nov. 24 at 6:30 pm at the Spearfish High School Auditorium.
December kicks off with the annual BHSU Chamber Singers Madrigal Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4-6. Tickets will go on sale in mid-October. On Dec. 6, “A Merry Tuba Christmas” will start at 4 p.m.
