BHSU Honors Retiring Faculty and Staff

Black Hills State University celebrated six retiring faculty and staff members during the Retiree Reception held at the Joy Center on campus Tuesday, April 28. Altogether, this year’s retirees gave approximately 100 years of service to the University and the South Dakota Board of Regents.  

“We are grateful for the years of service and dedication these faculty and staff have given to Black Hills State University,” said BHSU President Steve Elliott. “Their knowledge, dedication, and care for this community have strengthened the University in lasting ways. As they begin their next chapter, we are proud to celebrate their contributions and the positive impact they’ve had on our campus.” 

Retirees recognized included:  

Randy Culver, associate vice president of Facilities & Sustainability – 34 years
Deann Kertzman, deputy director of CAMSE – 10 years
Patrick Mackin, professor of operations management – 23 years
Jeff Olstad, senior building maintenance specialist – 8 years
Mike Overby, assistant director of facilities – 11 years
Wei Song, professor of marketing – 14 years
