BHSU Prepares for Upcoming Theatre Season

September 15, 2025

Black Hills State University’s Theatre Department is already deep in preparations for the 2025-2026 theatrical season, which will include performances in the newly renovated Woodburn Theatre and a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre event. Sponsorships are available for purchase.

The theatrical season will include performances of “Home Is Where Your Clothes Are,a rip-roaring comedy that promises mistaken identities, romantic drama, and a heartwarming conclusion. The story follows The Major, a divorcee who, in an effort to pay off lingering debts, rents his ex-wife’s house to two tenants—one on weekdays and one on weekends. Performances will be held in the Woodburn Black Box Theatre Oct. 24, 25, 31, and Nov. 1 at 7 pm and Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at 2 pm.

In the spring, BHSU Theatre will host performances of “Fiddler on the Roof, the beloved musical about a poor Jewish milkman in Czarist Russia struggling to maintain his traditions--and find husbands for his five daughters. Performances on March 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14 at 7 pm and March 8 at 2 pm in the newly renovated Woodburn Theater.

The department will also host the first annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. Attendees will enjoy a delicious meal while actors weave a gripping tale of greed and passion on Saturday, April 11. Location and menu to be announced. Proceeds will fund student scholarships.

"We are so excited for the 2025-2026 season,” said Casey Hibbert, theatre instructor at BHSU. “Our opening show is a hilarious farce that I was fortunate enough to be in 15 years ago. So this season is an awesome throwback for me.”

Season sponsorship opportunities are available by emailing Casey.Hibbert@BHSU.edu. Tickets for all performances are available at BHSU.edu/BoxOffice.
