Black Hills State University has announced that its annual BHSU Giving Day will expand to a two‑day event this year, taking place February 26–27. This 48-hour fundraising event unites alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends in support of university initiatives and current and future Yellow Jacket students.
Giving Days, also known as Jackets Give Back, was created in 2020 and is held in conjunction with Founder’s Day, which celebrates the founding of BHSU on February 27, 1883. Since its inception, Giving Day has grown into a beloved tradition that fosters generosity and strengthens community engagement around campus programs and student support initiatives.
Participants may direct their contributions to the areas of campus they care about most, including student scholarships, academic programs, athletic activities, student life, campus enhancements, and more. Every gift, large or small, plays a crucial role in sustaining and expanding student opportunities, enhancing educational experiences, and strengthening university programs.
In 2025, BHSU raised more than $190,000 through 625 individual gifts. This year, the university again aims to raise $200,000 and is striving for record-breaking participation.
“The real winners of Giving Day are BHSU students,” said Steve Meeker, vice president for University Advancement. “The majority of what is raised supports student scholarships.”
