I completed my bachelor’s in political science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, my master’s in international studies at DePaul University, and my doctorate in political science at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My area of expertise is in international relations and comparative politics, with a focus on international orders and the history and theory of states. My dissertation, Manufacturing Leviathan: International Order, States, and Failed States, explored the relationships between the rules and practices of international order and state development and stability.
I teach courses in International Relations, Comparative Politics, and American Government. I have most recently taught “Revolution and Revolt,” “Democracy and Democratization,” and “International Orders of War and Peace.”
In my free time, I enjoy reading speculative fiction, hiking in the Black Hills, going to concerts, and traveling.
