Discover Communication and Media at BHSU

The Communication and Media major will prepare students for careers in multiple areas of communication. The program offers a foundation in oral, textual, and audiovisual communication and helps students understand the cultural and ethical contexts across the communicative fields. Graduates of this major will able to seek employment in journalism, multimedia, social media, marketing, and other fields where a broad variety of skills is needed.

Communication and Media students get hands-on experience by working with award-winning student organizations such as the Forensics Team, Shutterbuzz Photography Club, The Buzz FM, KBHU TV, Public Relations Club and The Jacket Journal.  Students also produce converged media by working at BHSUmedia.com and at the newly upgraded photo studios, multimedia labs, as well as the campus television and radio stations. Students participate in an array of internships and jobs-leading-to-careers, locally or internationally.

At BHSU, faculty-and-student partnerships are common in research and creative work. Faculty have been – and still are – working professionals in the communication field, as well as published and/or exhibited academics. The Communication and Media Program keeps up with the latest innovations and trends in the communications and technology industries to fill professional positions from art to business and news reporting to filmmaking.

A minor is required for Communication and Media majors.
