South Dakota State University offers a free counseling clinic to all students who attend classes at Black Hills University Center - Rapid City. Counseling practicum students from the Master's program at SDSU conduct the 50 minute sessions for those students who would like to meet and talk about issues related to school, work, family, or life in general. If you have never been to counseling this is a great way to try it! All sessions are supervised by faculty and are recorded only for the purpose of making sure the counseling students are improving their counseling skills. Sessions can be scheduled Monday through Thursday, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Students can access resources at BHSU or their home school’s library.
BHSU-Rapid City also has access to the student-led Lending Library on the east end of the main floor
Inter-Library Loan (ILL) is a borrowing system designed by universities to allow students the ability to conduct quality research, even if the materials are unavailable to them at their home library. At BHSU-RC this program serves a critical function. If the book you need for your paper or research project is at one of the main campuses that is not your home school, you have the ability to reserve that book even if you are not a student at that institution.

Accuplacer Placement Testing
The ACCUPLACER testing system is an internet-delivered assessment program that also uses self-paced modules allowing students to work at their own speed and comfort level. ACCUPLACER provides immediate scoring and can be equated with ACT scores. The ACCUPLACER test does not have a time limit and the scores do not affect admission. Most students take about 20-40 minutes per section. The Regental universities operate the ACCUPLACER testing system under a site license agreement with College Board.
This measure is required of all entering students who have not submitted ACT results (within the past 5 years) for placement purposes. STUDENTS MUST BE ACCEPTED INTO A SPECIFIC UNIVERSITY BEFORE ACCUPLACER CAN BE ADMINISTERED. Students wishing to challenge their course placement based on ACT scores can also take the ACCUPLACER ($18.00 PER TEST). Students requesting this service for an outside BOR University will be charged $30.00.
Please contact (605-718-4193) to schedule an entrance exam.
