South Dakota Supreme Court Visit to BHSU
The public is invited to attend the Supreme Court’s March term of court sessions the mornings of Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25-26, 2025, in the Jacket Legacy Room in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union, 1200 University St., in Spearfish. The Supreme Court holds a term of court at a South Dakota public institution each spring to give the public an opportunity to see and hear firsthand how the Court works.
Schedule for Each Morning:
Judicial Primer: At 8:40 a.m., a Court employee will provide a brief history of the South Dakota Supreme Court and explain what attendees will see that day in the court process, who is involved in the cases, and what happens after oral arguments are heard.
Oral Arguments: Beginning at 9 a.m., the Supreme Court will hear three cases each morning.
Judicial Q&A: At approximately 11:15 a.m. following oral arguments, students can ask questions of the Supreme Court Justices.
