Dr. Alissa Call

Dr. Alissa A. Call joined the Psychology Department at Black Hills State University in the Fall of 2018. She studied psychology and criminal justice at Appalachian State University earning her Bachelors Degree in 2011. Dr. Call earned her Masters in General Experimental Psychology at Appalachian State University in 2014 before earning her Doctorate in Experimental Psychology at the University of Toledo in 2018.

Dr. Call teaches a variety of courses that range from introductory courses (e.g., General Psychology, The Psychology Major) to upper level specialized courses (e.g., Psychology and the Law, Social Psychology, Research Methods in Experimental Psychology).

Dr. Call is a legal psychologist, actively researching issues related to the field of psychology and the legal system. Her current projects mostly focus on investigating how jurors make verdict and legal decisions in sexual assault trials. Dr. Call is also interested in mentoring students in conducting their own research projects. She has presented her work at numerous national conferences and is excited to collaborate with enthusiastic students in the future.
