BHSU AND SD HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOUNDATION TO HOST ‘HISTORY TALK’ WITH AUTHOR DAVID A. WOLFF

The Leland D. Case Library for Western Historical Studies at Black Hills State University (BHSU), in collaboration with the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation, is pleased to announce an upcoming “History Talk” featuring BHSU Professor Emeritus David A. Wolff. The event will mark the release of the first book in Wolff’s highly anticipated Black Hills History Tour Series, titled "Black Hills History Tours: The Gold Rush." The book, published by the South Dakota Historical Society Press, will be launched at the “History Talk” on Tuesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. in Jonas Hall, Room 305 on the BHSU Campus.

Wolff’s six-book series will delve into the rich historical sites along the main roads of the Black Hills. During the book talk, Wolff will provide insights into the origins and future of the tour series and introduce the inaugural volume. The presentation will explore the gold rush as an organizing theme, tracing its beginnings, expansion, and evolution over time.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author during a book signing session and purchase advance copies of "Black Hills History Tours: The Gold Rush," a week before its official release date.

Parking will be available in any BHSU campus parking lot for those attending the event in person. For those unable to attend physically, the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation will be live-streaming the presentation on Zoom. Virtual attendees can register for the event at sdhsf.org/events.
