Black Hills State ranked in top 10 among 50 best online business degrees

Black Hills State University was ranked ninth in the nation on a list of 50 of the best online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programs for 2018 by Best Value Schools. BHSU is the only South Dakota school included in the ranking.

"Our online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with management specialization provides a well-rounded exposure to accounting, marketing, finance, economics, business law, and information systems," says Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., BHSU President. "We are thrilled to have our online business program included in this ranking of Best Value Schools."

The National Center for Education Statistics' College Navigator database was used to determine the 50 best online BBA degrees. Four-year, public and private colleges and universities in the U.S. offering a bachelor's degree in business were considered.

Eligible schools were ranked using the following criteria: program popularity, overall strength of online business programs, accreditation, and affordability.

All featured schools have a maximum annual tuition of $20,000 and accreditation from one of three specialized accrediting agencies: the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), or the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). Average tuition and fees for the online program at BHSU is $9,462 per year.

The Best Value Schools website notes the exceptional interdisciplinary approach at BHSU: “Because instructors from so many different departments teach business classes at Black Hills State, the school offers a patently interdisciplinary degree.” The reviewers noted that BHSU business students complete required coursework in economics, accounting, and marketing, and also focus on communications, ethics, and computer skills.

The affordable online bachelor's degree in business at BHSU includes a built-in specialization in management. Through this specialization, students acquire managerial and leadership skills as they apply to different areas of business, such as marketing and human resources. Plus, electives in niche topics like advertising, small business management, and tourism management will bring additional focus to their studies.
