Get the five percent advantage at Black Hills State University School of Business. Less than five percent of the business schools in the world are AACSB accredited and Black Hills State University is one of them. Schools such as Baylor, the Ohio State University, Harvard, and Yale are among those institutions that have earned this most prestigious business accreditation. Millions of students want exactly what you want. A highly successful, rewarding career in business.
Logan Miller
I'm Logan Miller. I'm going to school in the business program and tourism and hospitality is my specialization. When I was still deciding on which university to attend, my mom set up a time for me to meet with Dean Romkema. Bless her heart, she had enough time to meet with us and she told me about all the great things that were going to be happening at BH and more specifically the business school with accreditation and stuff. So that day, I was walking away and I was like, "Yep, I'm going to BH."
Narrator
Today's employers are looking for employees with an edge. Having a degree with an accreditation will help you stand out. This is one of the many reasons it's important to choose an AASB accredited business program that will teach you the knowledge and skills employers require.
Okoya Oluwashola Peter
My name is Okoya Oluwashola Peter. I'm from Nigeria. Wen I was taking my bachelors in Europe, there's this program we do. We'll come to America, like working, travel program. So the last time I came then, I already graduated. I came to Rapid City for a program, this same program. And I was like, "I want to take my masters in business though, which school can they actually recommend for me?" I sampled close to like ten people, and almost everybody told me that if I actually want to get my master's degree in business, they would actually advise me to go to BHSU. When we talk about AACSB, it's not just an ordinary accreditation. It's something that, I mean, you need to meet some criteria for your school to be qualified for it. So, I mean, for BHSU actually having this accreditation, it means I am actually going to a school where learning matters.

My company offered me a job in Spearfish, a pretty large promotion for somebody my age at the time, so I kind of had to take it. And because there was an MBA program, it kind of made it a little easier that- I knew I wanted to get that eventually, so it made its decision a little easier.
Cheryl Hewitt
My knowledge and capacity was more than what I was utilized in my past positions. So I felt coming back and obtaining the knowledge that I needed at Black Hills State University would be able to broaden my horizons.
Bob Dooley
Having that AACSB underneath your degree, and now you're going to go put it on your resume, makes a big difference. I think even, you know, coming from people I talk to and work in the corporate world, they know that, you know, it may be a small school but it is accredited. It is a good school.
Cheryl Hewitt
Only five percent of the schools, I believe that's internationally, actually have that accreditation. When they went ahead and did that, it proves to me as a student that they're willing to go further and do extra work that it requires and to obtain the AACSB accreditation. And therefore maybe they're working for me a little bit more.
Bob Dooley
BH MBA has a lot of opportunities and benefits that other schools don't have. I think the fact that it does have face-to-face, small class sizes is a benefit that you don't get going somewhere like USD or U of M, or online. And onlines, they are very convenient, but you don't get quite the same experience and the knowledge that you probably gain first-hand.
Cheryl Hewitt
I think the reason you should come to BH is because the professors are awesome. They have an interaction with you. They actually care if you succeed, and they will go above and beyond for you.

I really want to travel and business degrees are very flexible, so I will be able to do pretty much anything with the work in any business.

I really enjoy the class sizes. They're smaller, but not too small. So, you get a lot of one-on-one time with the professors. They're really great. They have a lot of experience in their field. They can answer any question that you have. They are really knowledgeable on their topics that they're teaching.
Okoya Oluwashola Peter

If I am accredited in the business degree that puts me ahead of other applicants because that's what business people are looking for.
Okoya Oluwashola Peter
Like, a message for the prospective students is if you really want to design your career, you want to study in an environment that focus more on theory, practice, and mentoring. And, you actually want to go to school where the things you do in class applicable to real world experience, then I would advise you to come to BHSU.
Carissa Hauck
Spearfish is a great town. I grew up here. And there's a lot to do around in terms of outdoor activities, lots of hiking, rock climbing, skiing in the winter, winter sports. And the community is overall very friendly. And we're going to, say, a gas station or something and someone will want to talk to you and hear about your whole life story even though you just met them.

My university in Slovenia is partnered with BH, so that's how I came here as an exchange student. And after one semester, because I fell in love with this place here, I just decided that I want to stay. Because I couldn't prolong my exchange, I just decided to enroll as a regular student.
Chase Vogel
I ultimately decided on Black Hills State University because I knew that I wanted to go to a place where I would not just be another number and where I can really capitalize on a lot of opportunities. And in hindsight, I'm really glad that I chose to come here because that is exactly what was promised and exactly what happened.
Logan Miller
My goal is to have my own hotels. So, I knew I had to attend the university that was going to help me achieve my goal. And so far, BH hasn't let me down so.
Karin Humar
It's very open environment. It's a big difference compared to Europe because there's very cold, so here I can feel it's very warm and you can approach everyone. It's even on the street. So it's not just the university itself that's very- that draws you in, but it's in general the whole Spearfish, or I could even say South Dakota.
Chase Vogel
For me, I don't think it's important AACSB accredited degree to show everybody on campus how important our business degrees are. Rather, I think it's more important to show people who are outside the campus or future employers, grad schools, that we're on the same playing field as other institutions. And, it takes away some of the challenge of trying to talk to employers about how important your degree is because you're already at the same level as other institutions that have achieved the same things as we have.
Logan Miller
I think it's a great, small school. It has all the great possibilities that a small school offers, but I think BH is one step above all of the small schools because there's not very many schools that have that AACSB accreditation. I love BH because they have the only travel and tourism program in the state, and, can't get that anywhere else.
