BHSU’S JOY OF LEARNING SERIES TO RETURN THIS JUNE

Black Hills State University will be hosting the third annual Joy of Learning, a unique speaker series that allows community members the opportunity to learn from faculty and other local experts. This year’s event will include 16 one-hour talks and take place June 22, 23, 29, and 30.

The series will include not only lecture sessions, but also art demonstrations, panel discussions, musical performances, and a tour of a local, sustainable farm. All sessions will be held at the Joy Center on the campus of BHSU unless otherwise indicated on the schedule. Several of the musical presentations will be in Meier Recital Hall. The farm tour will take place at Cycle Farm, 287 Evans Lane, in Spearfish.

Sessions will be held at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:15 p.m., except for the farm tour which will start at 9:00 am Friday, June 30. There is no cost to attend sessions. Donations are encouraged with proceeds going towards scholarships.

Dr. Amy Fuqua, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at BHSU, said, “The Joy of Learning was created simply to give BHSU and Spearfish community the delight of learning new things just for the sake of learning. Also, for the first time, all events are free.”
